What I am about to tell you is shocking. Are you ready? Can you handle it?
There is food at the grocery store that you can eat. I KNOW! Crazy! But, wait! It gets better! This food? Some of it is healthy.
They have these things called oranges. They are a fruit. And they are orange. Now here is the SHOCKING part. They taste good. You put them in the fridge for a bit and they get all cold and juicy and then you EAT THEM. They are yummy.
Also? There is this stuff called Yoplait Light Yogurt. It is only 100 calories. ONE HUNDRED. Again, people, hold on to your hats, because here comes the shocking part. IT TASTES GOOD. Like really good. Like I think I need to go get another one and eat it right now. Because, after all, ONE HUNDRED CALORIES, PEOPLE.
Where have these things been my whole life? I no longer have to eat chocolate and chips and candy and cookies. I can eat FRUIT. And YOGURT. Its a whole new world people.
Oh, also? I have been addicted to Ree’s pico de gallo. Anyone else tried it? Oh. My. God. Its yummy. I mean, yeah, its just pico de gallo, but damn. I love that stuff. I won’t tell you how often I eat it, because that would be embarassing, but I will tell you to proceed with caution. Once you pop, you can’t stop. Or something like that.
One last thing. Cilantro. My new favorite herb. (Is cilantro an herb? Surely it is.) Does anyone have any good recipes with cilantro? I really want some kind of cilantro chicken something, but I don’t know what and I’m scared to just start cooking it. I mean, who knows what it would come out like, right? Orange-yogurt-cilantro-chicken. Mmm. Yum. Any recipes for me?

You should try Dannon’s Light & Fit yogurt - 45 calories and 0 (oh, yeah, ZERO) fat grams!
And grapes - they’re my “can you believe they’re food? and healthy food? they taste like candy!!!”

Okay, when I first saw the “Y’all Better Sit Down,” I’m thinking, SHE’S PREGNANT. But grocery store food is good, too.
I have an excellent recipe for Orange Chicken Piccata. It doesn’t require cilantro, but it is my favorite chicken recipe. Here it is: http://fbnr.com/Recipes/415/4835001415.htm
It’s awesome.

I know a lot of recipes that use cilantro - but more as a finishing touch to the dish than a main part of it. They’re all dishes from Ecuador (my mom is Ecuadorian). Lemme know if you’re interested.

Auburn Gal Always,
I might just have to try that. I only bought three of Yoplait yogurts, because I’d never tried it before and wasn’t sure if I’d like it. And, um, they are all gone now. I’ll check out Dannon next time!

Mmmmmmm, cilantro! I like to whomp up a marinade of orange juice, some lime juice, tequila, and a little garlic. Marinate the chicken in that for an hour or so, and throw it on the grill. Mix up some honey with lime juice and cilantro, and baste it with that for the last few minutes. Delicious.

Candygirlflies says:
Oh, yes, Suzi’s got the right idea… Cilantro is wonderful in marinades… wonderful.
It’s a major ingredient in a lot of Asian food– I’ve got a Pad Thai recipe somewhere that I’ll have to dig out for you…
My general rule of thumb with Cilantro is that it makes a nice change from fresh parsley, but for my own taste, when I use it as a subsitute, I use a bit less Cilantro. It is a very strong flavour, and can kind of “overpower” the dish if you’re not careful.
I’ll email you the Pad Thai as soon as I can find it!

My very favorite recipe with cilatro is Tom Yum soup. really, the cilantro is just a small part of it, but the time I made it without it? Sucked. I always use extra now. If you like the combo of tangy and spicy, it’s awesome (and healthy).

I have no reason to comment, as the last time I gave anyone a recipe it was for playdoh. But I have to say that I like Yoplait more than Dannon.

wow….this is so freaky to read this because yesterday I went to the store and bought that EXACT SAME YOGURT for the first time..and …I bought big, beautiful juicy oranges for snackin’!
And….I am so in love with cilantro! I have a good cilantro-lime chicken recipe at home…I’ll have to find it when I get home. I love to make my own salsa with lots of cilantro, salt, onion, lime and tomatoes…almost the exact same recipe as Pioneer Woman except I use ground red pepper instead of fresh jalapeno ….and some garlic….

Lisa, I’m telling you that Yoplait is totally brainwashing people. Was it that commercial with the wife on the phone and the husband digging around the fridge for all her yummy food she was talking about? I couldn’t stop thinking about that commercial until I bought some damn yogurt. We should be afraid of Yoplait.
I thought about adding garlic to the p de g too, but was scared I might ruin it. I may try it now!
