    Oh, bartender?

    February 17, 2008

Lets play a little game. I tell you my favorite drink and you tell me yours. And I’m not talking Pepsi or Sweet Tea for all you innocent little ladies out there. I want to know what you drink to get drunk.

My favorite is a Lemon Drop. Simple, easy, yummy. Its not really a drink, though. Its a shot. I like shots best, because I really don’t care for the taste of alcohol, so I drink to get drunk and shots are quick and painless.

To make: Dump vodka into a shot glass. (I prefer using good old fashioned regular vodka, but most bars use Absolut Citron. You can use that IF YOU ARE DUMB. But, if you are SMART LIKE ME you’ll stick with the un-flavored stuff.) If you are like me, you will only fill it halfway full for yourself and then get a double shot glass for your husband and fill his to the rim. Because he is a boy and everyone knows that boys need more alcohol than girls to get drunk. (I can actually drink Cleatus under the table, but I still like to get him drunk first.) (So that I can take advantage of him.) (Like by making him dance. Click that link. Its worth it.)

So, now that you’ve filled your shot glass half full and your husband’s/boyfriend’s/unsuspecting male’s glass is nearly overflowing, take a slice of lemon and cover it in sugar. The more the better.

Clink your glasses together and make a toast (or just pray that you don’t end up puking all night, whichever you prefer). Lick the sugar off your lemon, down your shot, and then suck the life outta your lemon. When you are finished grimacing say “Mmm! That was good! Who wants another?”

Go forth and drink! But first tell me what your favorite drinks are!

Wow … great post for a Sunday morning. If you’re like me … you’re getting ready for the Daytona 500. :)

I’m boring though. Beer. Beer. And more beer. That’s what makes me happy. And drunk.

      :)

Oh girl, I have done more lemon drop shots than I can count. Though my favorites are slippery nipple shots. I have no idea how to make them, but they taste chocolate-y. And my favorite cocktail is a chocolate martini. But I also like white wine.

At least my alcoholic tastes are sophisticated.

I really want to get drunk now.

Rum & Coke with lime. And now that I’m a big Coke Zero addict, I use the Zero and feel like I am dieting and not drinking alcohol made from sugar cane.

And speaking of sugar cane, I also like Mojitos - I make the real ones with sugar cane juice and fresh mint and lime. I hate that pre-mixed crap.

Red wine, particularly Italian wines from the Sangiovese grapes. Yep, I’m a liquor snob, but give me a bottle of Chianti or Montepulciano and I am a HAPPY girl.

Lindsay, any sort of alcohol mixed with milk is baaaad. Actually, I’ve never tried it, but it sounds like it’d make me nauseous. ;) To each her own, I guess.

One of our neighbors introduced all of us to the Bailly’s Kiss a few years ago. Half vodka, half Bailly’s, over ice. Tasty stuff, and potent. I’m a big fan of the good ol’ tequila shot, too.

oh lordy. the last time i drank lemon drops i forgot how to get back into my dorm and ended up dancing the POLKA on the lawn with another girl until someone took pity on us and opened the door to let us in.

I like bellinis now. And screwdrivers. Fruity with liquor, that’s what I say.

    14. Mommycosm says:

I am definitely a Margarita girl first and foremost.

If I need longevity with my drinking, I’ll stick to Jack & Coke with a splash of lime…the caffeine keeps me going.

If I am by the pool in Aruba, I love homemade Sangria.

If I just want to get shitty or if I’m losing miserably at poker night, I pull out the chocolate shot cups by the bar…they’re edible and pretty much any alcohol tastes yummy with chocolate, well, except tequila.

I’m going to add lemon drops to my list though…sounds yummy…I have a vague recollection of them from my college days.

Oh, I am glad I’m not the only boring beer person here! Beer is so cold, so easy, so cooler-friendly!

But I love vodka ceasars: clamato, vodka, pepper sauce, olives, garlic. Mmmm.

I cannot drink rum AT ALL, or I become a sobbing, maudlin, boring drunk. Very unfortunate, in this land of sugar cane! Rum is the national drink!

Ok, I’m going to sound like an alchoholic here. It really depends on my mood.
On our boat or at a game I like beer.
I drink red wine quite often (my best friend owns a wine store so that doesn’t hurt! And it’s GOOD for you! :D)
I also like the following mixed drinks - vodka and cranberry, Bailey’s and Caramel liquour or Butterscotch liquour, pineapple juice, coconut rum and mango rum, homemade strawberry maragaritas or daquiris.
See, told you I would sound like I have a problem!

I like beer. Dark beer. Flavorful beer. mmmm, beer.

Also I like wine. Bogle Petite Sirah is a fave, also Red Truck, and two-buck Chuck.

Of course I can’t leave out Pineapple and Malibu or White Russians or Pina Coladas or Margaritas.

ALL of those are my favorite. Does this make me look like a drunk?

Ok, ok, I don’t actually recommend getting DRUNK on milk-based drinks, unless you enjoy vomiting cottage cheese. My final answer is red wine sangria, done the cheapo way by just mixing wine with OJ and whatever other kind of juice you have around. Didn’t say I way classy or anything.

If I really just want to get drunk? Vodka and whatever mixer is handy. Dr. Pepper, juice, whatever. Well, not milk. But you get the idea. To make take lots and lots of vodka (depends on size of cup). Add mixer. I dilute juice just because with the amount I tend to ingest it really cleans out my system otherwise.

I just tried lemon drops for the first time a few months ago…but they were served as an actual drink, in a martini glass, with some lemony citrus sugar on the rim, and a lemon inside…it was SO good! I also love raspberry vodka with lemonade, and lime Mike’s Hard Lemonade with LOTS of ice…yum!!!!

Dammmit, I hate it when I’m late to the party. This is what I get for sitting with my feet up for a few days…

In college, there was a bar that had quarter beer night and beer, in general, is pretty cheap, so back then, I liked my beer. I was a an old pro at keg stands and could shotgun a beer with the frat boys.

Now…considering I haven’t been able to drink in forever, I’m a real lightweight. I like wine. And it doesn’t take much.

My drink of choice: Seven and Seven. I used to like it because I thought it made me seem grown-up to order it, especially when I was under age. It’s a very adult drink. Then, it grew on me.

My favorite whiskey: Southern Comfort. I love to sip it, shoot it or mix it. Nothing better than a little Southern Comfort.
